The Diploma in Quantitative Science has been developed to provide a qualification for students who are seeking to work in the analytics industry or in occupations where big data will be of utility. This program was created to provide graduates with related broad-based knowledge, advanced skills, entrepreneurship and managerial skills, scientific methods, critical thinking and problem-solving skills and its also aims towards lifelong learning. The students will obtain strong analytical skills for quantitative science, business and information technology inquiry would prepare them for immediate and effective employment in the industry. The Diploma in Quantitative Science is 2 ½ years course, conducted in 7 semesters and students need to accomplish 93 credit hours.

Course Information

Passed Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)/ Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia Vokasional (SPMV) and obtained THREE (3) subjects with credits including Mathematics or

Obtained any certificate from public higher learning institutions (IPTA) or private higher institutions accredited by the Government (IPTS) with a minimum of CGPA 2.00 or

Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with 3 subjects in Grade B including Mathematics and Grade C in English and

SPM holders from Year 2013 onwards must have at least a pass in Sejarah.

INTERNATIONAL ENTRY REQUIRMENT

All international candidates are required to have O-Level or any equivalent qualification recognised by the Malaysian Government.

Private Sector:

The amount of basic starting monthly salary can vary from the above amount. However, the total amount of monthly salary earned (inclusive of allowances) is subject to negotiation and which can be higher than that earned in the public sector.

To produce graduates with broad-based knowledge in quantitative science with analytical skills and ability to apply suitable quantitative techniques.

To produce graduates with quantitative skills and ability to work in a demanding and challenging environment.

To produce graduates with professional attitudes, good ethics, leadership quality, and engage in life-long learning.

At the end of this programme, students should be able to:

  • Graduates are able to acquire knowledge in quantitative science.
  • Graduates are able to recognize, describe, and apply suitable quantitative techniques to solve problems.
  • Graduates are able to demonstrate good interpersonal skill, effective communication, entrepreneurship and managerial skills.
  • Graduates are able to analyse data, interpret and summarize the result using analytical tools in quantitative science.
  • Graduates are able to select and use appropriate tools to solve quantitative problems related to industry.
  • Graduates are able to communicate persuasively and function effectively as an individual, a team member and a leader.
  • Graduates are able to demonstrate awareness on issues in quantitative field and practice professionalism with ethical values.
  • Graduates are able to demonstrate knowledge, skills and motivation for continued self-education.

Public Sector:

Basic starting monthly salary is around RM1,500; plus allowances (such as housing) the total can amount to around RM2,000.

Private Sector:

The amount of basic starting monthly salary can vary from the above amount. However, the total amount of monthly salary earned (inclusive of allowances) is subject to negotiation and which can be higher than that earned in the public sector.
