The Bachelor (Honors) of Digital Graphic Design at University Selangor (UNISEL) is a comprehensive three-year program designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to excel in the dynamic digital graphic design field. This program emphasizes both creativity and technical expertise, preparing students to adapt to the evolving demands of the graphic design industry. Students gain a deep understanding of design principles, innovative technologies, and practical applications through a multidisciplinary approach.

The program provides students with a solid foundation in areas such as typography, branding, digital illustration, animation, and interactive media design. Graduates of this program will be well-prepared for roles in various graphic design industries, equipped to handle real-world challenges, and capable of creating impactful visual communications. Whether pursuing careers in design, animation, web development, or visual storytelling, students will emerge as skilled professionals ready to contribute to the creative economy.

The programme aims to provide graduates with high quality education, advanced technical knowledge, communication and marketing skills in creativity and design innovation as well as to have visual expression and communications in art and design.

Graduates with a Bachelor of Art (Hons) in Digital Graphic Design obtain basic skills on fundamental knowledge of principles and elements of art and design and photography.

The programme aims to emphasize on the effective application of analytical and the creative thinking processes; so as to ensure our graduates will inculcate positive values and attitudes, stressing on ethics and professionalism, possess leadership qualities and ethical teamwork spirit in the diverse cultures of the nation. Ultimately, the program aims to provide them with an educational experience focusing on the pursuit of life-long learning.

Comprehensive Curriculum: The program offers a balanced and in-depth curriculum that covers a wide range of topics in graphic design, from foundational principles to advanced digital techniques. Students will explore areas such as typography, branding, digital illustration, animation, and interactive media design.

Hands-on Training: Students will engage in practical, project-based learning experiences designed to simulate real-world scenarios. This includes studio-based projects, software training, and collaborative assignments that develop both technical and creative skills.

Industry Exposure: The program emphasizes strong industry connections through guest lectures, workshops, and networking events. Students can participate in internships and industry-led projects, ensuring they graduate with practical experience and professional connections.

Sustainability Focus: The program incorporates sustainable design principles and encourages students to create environmentally responsible and socially conscious designs that align with global trends in sustainable development.

Research Opportunities: Students will have opportunities to engage in research activities, exploring emerging trends, technologies, and methodologies in digital graphic design, contributing to the advancement of the field.

Interdisciplinary Learning: The program fosters a multidisciplinary approach, integrating elements of technology, art, and business. Students will collaborate across disciplines to develop versatile skill sets applicable to various industries.

The Bachelor (Honors) Digital Graphic Design program offers a comprehensive course structure, which includes university compulsory subjects, basic core subjects, discipline core subjects, and elective subjects such as web design, game design, and product design. Students must complete a total of 120 credit hours, including a 14-week industrial placement, to graduate. Upon graduation, students will be able to demonstrate technical proficiency in design tools, apply creative design principles, collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, integrate sustainability into projects, conduct informed research, and effectively communicate concepts to diverse audiences.

  • A pass in STPM with a minimum of Grade C (GP 2.00) in any two (2) subjects or its equivalent
  • A pass in STAM with a minimum grade of Jayyid or its equivalent; 
  • A Certificate in Matriculation or Foundation with a minimum CGPA of 2.00, or its equivalent;
  • A Diploma (Level 4, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.00, or its equivalent;
  • A pass in Malaysian Skill Diploma (DKM)/ Advanced Malaysian Skill Diploma (DLKM)/ Malaysian Vocational Diploma (DVM) from the Department Skills Development (JPK) with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 in any of the following areas
  • A pass in DKM / DLKM / DVM with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and at least two (2) years of working experience in a related discipline
  • Other relevant equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government.
  • Pass an interview OR submit of portfolio determined by the HEP as required.

Note: Additional entry requirements for the 2012-2016 DVM graduates include passing the Malaysian Vocational Certificate (SVM) with an equivalent of three credits in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM). Candidates must achieve a credit in Bahasa Melayu (SVM Code 1104), a minimum Academic CGPA of 2.00, a minimum Vocational CGPA of 2.67, and demonstrate competency in all vocational modules. For SVM graduates from the 2013-2016 cohort, the equivalence of SVM with three SPM credits must also include a pass in History.

Alternatively, candidates may qualify with a pass in the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) by obtaining a minimum grade of B in five subjects and passing English. All applicants must also achieve a minimum score of Band 3 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) or its equivalent.

For international students, English competency requirements include achieving at least Band 3 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) or an equivalent standard.
